Panellist, speaker, mentor and assessor
I have spoken at a variety of music education establishments such as BIMM, ACM, University of West Scotland, Leeds College of Music and Point Blank. I have been invited to primarily talk about music publishing and offer advice to the students backing up their learned theory with examples of real events that I have encountered during my career in music publishing. I have delivered a publishing masterclass in BIMM Dublin where I was interviewed by rights expert Aaron Casey where we talked extensively about my time a publisher.
I have been a panellist at music conventions including The Great Escape, Output Belfast, Ireland Music Week, XpoNorth, Focus Wales, Resonate Futures, Mastering the Music Business and Nouvelle Prague. I have been on many panels that have been organised by the PRS or the Music Publishers Association over the years. Speed networking is also something I have done several times at Ireland Music Week.
I was honoured to be asked to be on the steering committee for the PRS Foundation Hit Maker fund where I have continued to be an active assessor. It was a privilege to be invited to be on the Brits Academy voting board from 2013-2016.
Mentoring young musicians is something I have very much enjoyed; I was invited to do this at the LIMF Academy in Liverpool and for Scratch My Progress at the Oh Yeah Centre in Belfast.
